There are several criteria that the GMTA uses to award the driver of the year:

  2. Years of Experience: With 18 years and counting David plans to keep his safety a top priority.
  3. Acts of Courtesy or Heroism: Dave talks about an instance where he went above and beyond his normal duties, exhibited exceptional courtesy and heroism which is inspiring.
  4. Contributions to Highway Safety: David actively promotes safety to all drivers, collogues and friends to improve road safety.
  5. Letters of Commendation: David has received many letters praising his excellent service and conduct.
  6. Professionalism: Thank you David for taking the time to be interviewed for this video which highlights your professionalism.

What is the Driver of the Year?

The Driver of the Year Award is one of the most prestigious recognitions a driver can receive. It acknowledges a driver’s exceptional performance based on their safety record, years of experience, documented acts of courtesy or heroism, contributions to highway safety, and letters of commendation. The award is open to drivers residing or domiciled in Georgia, whose employer is a member of the Georgia Motor Trucking Association. Each company can nominate only one driver for this award.
