A supernatural anthology rooted in the world of trucking and highway life, Down Darker Highways blends industrial realism with the eerie, psychological horror of shows like The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, a place where mechanical failures can become surreal, and your biggest mistake might be ignoring a routine safety check.
At first glance, the world of Down Darker Highways seems familiar: long-haul truckers, roadside diners, weigh stations, and weather-worn blacktop. But just beneath the surface, something is always off. That highway exit doesn’t appear on the GPS. The voice on the CB sounds…just a little off. The customers at the all-night truck stop stare a little too long.
While different than our usual training videos, each episode of Down Darker Highways features our familiar, expert guidance on safe driving, Hours of Service violations, and other important topics.
Wrapped in an “edu-tainment” format, we believe that the safety lessons imparted within will resonate with viewers, keeping them engaged and eager for the next installment of the series, while also giving them valuable information about road safety, CSA violations, and more.
An Illustrated Narrative
Each self-contained episode in the series explores a different element of trucking safety through the lens of suspense and horror. Rather than dry bullet points or instructional videos, Down Darker Highways builds tension around real-world hazards like tire tread depth, cargo securement, and brake maintenance by wrapping them in stories that haunt you long after they end. The guiding voice through this strange world is Axel Sterling, our sharply dressed narrator who appears in every episode. With composed confidence, Axel stands at the edge of each story, calmly dissecting the fates of the characters within and offering real-world guidance on best practices, FMCSA regulations, and the importance of safety when operating a CMV.
Every episode is grounded in real trucking culture, with characters who talk like drivers, act like drivers, and carry the weight of the road on their shoulders. The visuals echo this commitment, evoking a gritty realism while maintaining an otherworldly tone.
