Trump Rescheduling Marijuana Timeline VS DOT Drug Testing Rules

The Trump rescheduling marijuana timeline has become a major federal policy development with potential implications for research, healthcare, and regulated industries such as trucking. In December 2025, the White House directed federal agencies to accelerate the process of moving marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III while expanding medical marijuana and cannabidiol research. While this shift could reduce barriers to scientific studies and pharmaceutical development, it does not automatically legalize marijuana under federal law. For the trucking industry, federal DOT drug testing rules for CDL drivers remain unchanged during the rulemaking process. FMCSA Compliance Safety Accountability CSA Program​

Since 2004, Ram Services has successfully operated a fleet of right at 15 trucks out of the Dallas, Texas area. When they lost one of their drivers to a single-vehicle fatality accident in July of 2014, they knew a DOT audit was coming.
