GET STARTED
Select the Custom Content option and navigate to the Custom Content page.
STEP 1
To create a new course, select “Add Course.”
Note: courses can contain one or more pieces of content. For example, our course Speed and Space Management contains five (5) videos. You can assign the entire course, or you can assign specific videos within the course
STEP 2
Add a course name and a description for your course.
Duplicate course names are not permitted, if the chosen course name already exists this error message will appear on the lower right corner of the screen.
STEP 3
Add content information.
In the menu shown below you will assign: Content Name, Description, Media Type, Duration, and URL (if applicable).
- Content Name should be unique and informative.
- Description is optional yet very helpful in identifying topics covered in your content.
- Media Type: The four media options are:
- RAW PDF: PDF documents (.pdf file type). You can upload file size up to 1GB.
- RAW Video: Videos stored on your computer. Compatible video files are MP4, M4V and MOV. You
can upload file size up to 1GB. - RAW VIMEO: Videos published on Vimeo and accessible by you (these videos are generally public, or
you have permission to access the private links). - RAW YOUTUBE: Videos published on YouTube and accessible by you (these videos are generally
public, or you have permission to access the private links).• Duration: Enter the duration of the video to match as accurately as possible.
Note: The Business Intelligence reporting uses time elapsed to complete training. Duration entered for the content is not used for reporting. If you submit a PDF file, the uploader will not require you to enter a length for the file.
STEP 4
Select Choose File.
A new window will open allowing you to navigate and select the desired file to upload
If Media Type does not match the file type selected this error will appear.
Once you select your desired file, your file name will appear on the screen.
STEP 5
Double check the entered information for accuracy, and select save
STEP 6
This acknowledgement screen request you attest to the ownership of the material uploaded. To acknowledge press I Agree.
This screen will track your upload progress. Upload speed is primarily dependent on your upload speeds through your ISP.
Note: a 130 MB video (30 minute 1080p video at 30 fps, a common recording format) will generally upload in less than 90 seconds.
Once the file is uploaded you will receive this message.
Larger files will take longer to publish. Select Refresh Status to receive update publishing status.
STEP 7
Click Create Quiz to attach a quiz for this content.
Note: Quizzes are required. Content without quizzes cannot be assigned for training. You may also add or edit quizzes at a later time.
STEP 8
Type your question in the New Question field.
Type in desired answers.
Select the box on the right to denote correct answer.
To add more answer options select Add New Answer.
To populate field with True/False or Yes/No select the appropriate button representing the option.
Select Add New Question to add the created question to the content.
Note: The trash bin will discard the answer. Additionally, if you desire to order the questions in a specific sequence, you can type in the order in the sequence field (for example, typing 1 in the sequence field will display that question first).
The previously created question will shift to the bottom of the screen, and you can proceed to create an additional question if you wish.
Note: You are not required to add a quiz for each content, but content without quizzes cannot be assigned as training. Quizzes can contain one or more questions.
